This morning, we visited the Directorate of Education and had the privilege of meeting
Mr. Haraldsson and Mr. Oskarsson.
The Directorate is an administrative institution
in the field of education, with its main objective
being to enhance the quality and support progress in education. It shares similar
responsibilities with our Niedersächsisches
Landesinstitut für Schulische Qualitätsentwicklung
(NLQ) and Regionales Landesamt für Schule und
Bildung (RLSB Hannover).
We were introduced to Iceland’s vocational
education and training (VET) system, along with its recent developments and innovative initiatives.
Of particular interest was the ongoing innovation project, the „Digital Log Book.“ This serves as a new communication
platform connecting students, teachers, and
other stakeholders in vocational training.
The ‚Digital Log Book“ documents the attained
competences and facilitates thus the exchange
between companies, schools, and the
Islandic school administration.
The „book“ seamlessly aligns with the impressive competence-oriented learning we observed in practice at two vocational schools yesterday and which impressed us very much.
